Our services

Five areas of work for live news and interview programmes

Each service covers one part of getting a live show on air reliably. Studio Equipment Integration, Camera Operation Coaching, Acoustic Optimisation, Lighting Design for Live Sets and Production Workflow Review can be booked singly or combined, depending on where your studio needs the most attention.

  1. Studio Equipment Integration

We plan, wire and test vision mixers, routers, intercom and monitoring so your gallery works as one system.

  2. Camera Operation Coaching

Practical training in framing, movement and shot sequencing for live news and interview formats.

  3. Acoustic Optimisation

Measuring and treating studio spaces so presenters and guests are heard cleanly on air.

  4. Lighting Design for Live Sets

Lighting plans for news desks, interview sets and live shows that stay consistent across long broadcasts.

  5. Production Workflow Review

A written review of rundowns, cueing, talkback and fallback procedures to make live shows steadier.

Tell us what the programme is, how long it runs and what currently causes trouble. We shape the scope from that conversation, so nothing is added that you do not need.

How it works

From first enquiry to a studio that runs steadily

Every engagement follows the same sequence, so you know what is decided and when. We start by understanding the programme and the space, and we finish only when the work has been tested against the way your crew really works.

  1. Enquiry through the contact page

You describe the programme format, the studio and the problem you want solved. We read it, ask follow-up questions by email or phone, and tell you honestly whether our services fit what you need.

    What you leave with

A shared understanding of the brief and the service or services involved

  2. Studio visit and assessment

One of our consultants comes to your studio, or reviews plans and recordings if a visit is not practical. We look at the gallery, the set, the sound and the way a show is actually run.

    What you leave with

Notes on the current setup and a list of the points to address

  3. Written quotation

We set out the scope, what is included, what would change the price and the order of the work. You can question any line before agreeing, and we adjust the scope until it matches your needs.

    What you leave with

A written quotation you can accept, amend or decline

  4. Delivery and testing

The work is carried out around your broadcast schedule. Wiring, coaching sessions, acoustic treatment or lighting changes are checked on air-like conditions, with your own crew involved wherever possible.

    What you leave with

Working systems, trained crew or a finished review, tested with your team

  5. Handover and invoice

We hand over documentation in plain language, walk your team through it and answer questions. The invoice follows the confirmed scope and is paid by bank transfer.

    What you leave with

Written documentation and an invoice matching the agreed quotation

Before we start

What helps us work well with your team

A little preparation on your side saves time in the studio. None of this has to be perfect; we can work from whatever you have and fill the gaps during the visit.

About
  • Name one point of contact

Someone who knows the programme and can reach the technical lead, the producer and the studio manager keeps decisions moving and avoids repeated questions.

  • Share plans and equipment lists

Gallery diagrams, rack layouts, equipment lists and recent rundowns tell us a great deal before we arrive. Rough sketches are welcome if drawings do not exist.

  • Tell us about your schedule

Studio time is limited. Let us know when the space is free, when you are on air and which days cannot be disturbed, so the work fits around the programme.

  • Say what has gone wrong

Examples of past incidents, such as a lost talkback line, uneven faces on camera or echo at the desk, help us focus on real problems rather than guesses.

Questions we are often asked

These answers cover scope, costs and practical arrangements. If your question is not here, send it through the contact page and we will reply in writing.

Can we book just one service rather than several?

Yes. Each service stands on its own, and many clients start with a single one, such as the workflow review or the acoustic measurements. If the first piece of work shows that another area needs attention, we say so and explain why, but you decide whether to go further. Combining services can reduce the number of studio visits.

Do you work with studios outside Oxford?

We are based in Oxford but work with studios elsewhere in the United Kingdom. Travel to your site is discussed and written into the quotation before anything is agreed. Some parts, such as reviewing rundowns or fallback procedures, can be done largely from documents and recordings, which keeps visits to a minimum.

How is the price of a project worked out?

The price follows the scope: which services, how large the studio or gallery is, how many people are involved and how much time on site is needed. We confirm all of this in a written quotation before work begins. The prices page explains what each service includes and what can change the figure.

How do we order and pay?

You send an enquiry through the contact page. We reply with a written quotation or confirmation, and once you accept it, we carry out the work and send an invoice. Payment is made by bank transfer. Nothing is bought or paid for on the website itself.

Will the work disturb our live broadcasts?

We plan around your schedule and avoid on-air periods. Wiring, treatment and lighting changes are usually done in off-air hours, and anything that must be tested live is agreed with your producer first. If a change carries any risk to a broadcast, we say so beforehand and propose a safer way.

Do you supply the equipment as well?

Our role is consultancy and integration: we plan, wire, test and document your systems. Where equipment must be purchased, we help you specify it and check that it fits the rest of the gallery. The purchase itself stays with you, so you choose your suppliers.

Can our own crew take part in the coaching?

That is how it works best. Camera coaching is built around your own operators on your own cameras, using your real formats such as news bulletins or interviews. We observe, give practical feedback and set exercises the crew can repeat without us afterwards.

What happens if we need to cancel or change the plan?

Plans change in broadcasting, and we understand that. Tell us as early as you can and we will adjust the dates or scope where possible. Cancellations and refunds follow the payment and refund policy, which sets out exactly what applies at each stage of an engagement.
